Gaze at the extra wide and slightly crooked doorways. Extra wide so the ladies could swoosh through them with there full skirts. Study the hand carved spindles on the stairway and porch and notice the unevenness of their beautiful imperfections. No nails, strong wood pegs hold this beauty together.

The “pencil pine” a huge and magnificent tree with its abstract, twisted, trunk…one could study for quite a while. The enormous Crepe Myrtle (perhaps the largest in our state) bursts forth in July and August with a hot pink display of breathtaking flowers.

The great holly tree …again one of the largest in the upstate.

Dirt was brought in from the Savannah River elevating the property,

providing extra nourishment for the surrounding trees.

The trees seem to cradle her with their love and protection.
